I have been a registered nurse in the "sick care" model for over 24 years. I have witnessed an alarming increase in "dis ease" over these decades. The term dis ease can be broken down to "dis = opposite or absence of" and "ease = freedom from pain or discomfort" thus meaning pain, discomfort, suffering, and chronic illness.
I continue to be aghast at the pharmaceutical approach that merely masks the symptoms as opposed to providing an effective cure for most of the illnesses we see today. It is more lucrative to provide a lifetime of treatments and medications than to provide a cure for the root cause of the condition. The truth is, more than 80% of all chronic illnesses can be cured with diet. What goes in, comes out. It's simple. You would never put sugar in your gas tank. It would freeze up and stop functioning. As is the case with your body. Over time, the "junk" we put inside our own divine vehicle starts freezing up and either individual parts, or the body as a whole, ceases to function.
Let medicine be thy food and food be thy medicine.
With that being said, our bodies are well equipped to heal itself. A healthy body fights infection, heals wounds, kills cancer cells, repairs damage, and fights the aging process when left to it's own natural devices. Our bodies are the most incredible machines on this planet. They are well equipped to heal the dis ease caused by environment, ingestion of chemicals, stress, and other outside influences that disrupt our innate ability to heal ourselves.
I became a nurse out of an instinctive desire to help other people recover from injury, illness, and medical misfortune. I became a nurse to help them feel better, feel whole, and feel loved. After years of watching my patient's health continue to decline, their lives being unnecessarily devastated by chronic illness, and their lives cut short, I knew there must be a better way. However, I felt trapped in the sick care model right alongside my patients. This distressing realization is what led me to dive into this endeavor with my heart wide open.
The general population has been programmed to want the quick fix. They will blindly trust everything the medical professional tells them and expect and will take the pill that ideally will "fix" their ailments. I saw a need for a more natural approach to health and education. That is what ignited my passion to embark on this journey with Beyond Holistic.
Over the years, there has been an increase in naturopathic and holistic practitioners. People are waking up and realizing that the sick care model does not have their best interests at heart. The practitioners who endorse the sick care model merely want to line their own pockets; or, they also have been programmed by institutions that a pill can fix everything. They have minimal education on dietary alternatives. They spend less than 4 hours of their entire medical education on nutrition.
That being said; there is certainly a time for western medicine. I am not discrediting all advances in treatments. Illnesses and injuries such as broken bones, dying organs that need to be removed, or life saving treatments for your brain or heart can still benefit from the advances made in western medicine. However, more times than not, our bodies are infinitely better equipped to heal itself in lieu of adding medications (which are all toxins) to our bodies leading to prolonging and intensifying the dis ease.
